This film was absolutely fantastic. The actors were great, story line was great (with uncountable plot twists that kept tilting the story to another direction) and the cinematography was amazing. best movie I have seen in a while i highly recommend.
Stick with it though the first 20-30 minutes are pretty confusing but once you get the drift, sit back and enjoy.

What a cast.
Has there ever been a bad performance in a Guy Ritchie movie? If there has I haven't noticed it. He has an ornate ability to take average actors and make them great, and to take already great actors and get even more out of them. There are a few directors around who specialise in this but Ritchie is right near the top. The cast in 'The Gentlemen' is admittedly fantastic, but it doesn't change the fact that they are an absolute treat to watch. Matthew McConaughey is in his element in a role that he was born to play, Charlie Hunnam plays one of the coolest characters I've seen perfectly, Colin Farrell is hilarious and ridiculously cool as well and then Hugh Grant gives one of the best performances I've ever seen from him. In fact Grant was so good I didn't even recognise his voice and had to wonder if they'd dubbed it. They hadn't, he'd just nailed it.
The style this movie possesses is just so much fun to watch. If you've seen any of Ritchie's previous similar films ( Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Snatch. RocknRolla' then you know what I'm talking about. The pacing moves at lightning speed, the dialogue is quick, clever and deeper than you first realise and the conflict is always multi-layered. This one is actually told in quite a unique way with a couple of characters going over events that have already happened and it works masterfully. It breaks the story up and gives room for creativity in the story-telling process and also humour.
Every time I see that Ritchie has made a movie that isn't a crime-thriller I get a little disappointed. It's not that the other stuff he's doing is bad ( Swept Away' being an obvious exception) it's just that he is so damn good as this style of movie. He's the best in the business and if he only did these for the rest of his career I'd be a very happy man. This is an excellent movie well worth your time and money.

Level 1 It’s really a movie? What else would it be. level 2 Whoops, yeah it's a "good" movie level 1 I thought it was decent, it's no 'lock stock' or 'snatch' but it'll pass the time it just didn't hav anything special level 2 Same, and I thought the budget Tom Hardy wasn't charismatic enough for the role. Farrell is excellent in it though, as is Grant. level 1 Thought it was a bit cheesey tbh like an English gangster movie but made for Americans Cant stand guy Richie though so any movie of his i go in with a bias that I won't like it level 2 I turned this on expecting to stay interested for maybe 10 minutes tops before I went up watching the whole bloody 're right too btw it was as cheesy as hell but the tone was right and it never took itself too seriously.... 7 thumbs up from me level 1 Loved this film! Colin Farrell and Charlie Hunnam were brilliant in it. level 2 Charlie Hunnam, Jesus he must have learned to act since SOA then. level 2 Farrell was excellent but Hunnam felt like a budget Tom Hardy. level 1 I enjoyed it, made me wanna go back and watch Lock Stock & Snatch. I always enjoyed that silly dialogue Ritchie specialises in. Colin Farrell was great in it, throw him into anything and he typically makes it better really. He felt the most natural out of everyone in it. I just can't get buy Charlie Hunham at the best of times, his accent does be all over the place and him delivering Ritchies's quips feel a bit flat. level 1 I thought twas absolutely shite, 90 mins of Hugh Grant talking feck that. level 2 Yeah it was awful... wouldn't recommend it at all level 1 Wasnt too impressed myself but yes Colin Farrel was pretty good in it level 1 Watched it the other week, best thing he's done since Snatch. Loved it and Colin Farrell is brilliant in it. level 1 I thought it was a great movie.

Being frankly honest, I didn't know the ins and outs of Guy Ritchie's gritty films but I will certainly be on the look out for his others now. The cast are brilliant. Seeing Hugh Grant particulary in this kind of role was a breath of fresh air and showed he isn't only a rom-com man. Also a standardly good ferformance by the multi-talented Colin Farrell and I only expect to see more of Henry Golding in the near future.
The film itself followed a good story, easy and interesting to follow. The comedy and wit of the characters really makes for an enjoyable 2 hours in the cinema.
